Manifest Antiromàntic is an electro-opera about gender and sexuality in the 21st century. It premiered in early 2022 at the Teatro Principal in Valencia, with over 1,200 attendees in its first two shows.
The electro-opera presents itself as a contemporary scenic essay on ways of loving in today’s society, set to electronic rhythms that sketch a postmodern landscape blending positivist messages, existentialist poetry, and Instagram comments. Neo-machine music, sung with an autotune filter, drives militarized choreography that builds up and breaks down the lives of @mr and @miss.
